Product Knowledge & Care

At CONCEPT LIVING , each piece of furniture is a celebration of craftsmanship, character, and natural materials. Understanding how your furniture is made—and how to care for it—ensures it remains beautiful and functional for years to come.

MATERIALS WE USE

Solid Woods: Sheesham & Mango

  • Our furniture is crafted from ethically sourced Sheesham (Indian Rosewood) and Mango wood, prized for their strength, bold grain patterns, and durability.
  • Both are hardwoods known to develop a richer patina over time, making each piece truly unique.
  • Expect natural variations in grain, texture, knots, and color — these are signs of authenticity, not defects.

Natural Wood Veneers

  • We also use natural wood veneers applied over engineered core substrates for enhanced stability and cost efficiency, especially in surfaces where weight or warping may be a concern.
  • Veneers are real wood slices — they carry the beauty of solid wood while minimizing movement caused by humidity or temperature shifts.

Finishes : Solvent & Water-Based Lacquers / PU

  • We use premium solvent-based and water-based lacquer finishes, as well as PU (Polyurethane) coatings for durability.
  • These finishes offer protection while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.
  • Some finishes may continue curing for several days after delivery — handle surfaces with care during this period.

Upholstery: Polyester Fabric & PU Leatherette

  • Our upholstered furniture features polyester-based fabrics known for stain resistance, color retention, and easy maintenance.
  • PU Leatherette offers the look and feel of leather at a more accessible price, while being animal-friendly and easier to clean.
  • Cushions typically use high-density foam and webbing/spring support systems for long-lasting comfort.

FURNITURE CARE & MAINTENANCE

Here are best practices to maintain the finish, structure, and appearance of your handcrafted furniture:

CARE FOR SOLID WOOD & VENEER FURNITURE

Daily / Weekly

  • Dust using a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Wipe along the grain.
  • Use coasters, mats, and table runners to protect against heat and moisture.
  • Immediately blot spills to prevent staining or finish damage.

What to Avoid

  • Direct sunlight and extreme heat can cause fading, cracking or warping.
  • Don’t use harsh cleaners or alcohol/ammonia-based sprays.
  • Avoid dragging objects across the surface — this can scratch even durable finishes.
  • Avoid exposure to high humidity or placement near damp walls.

Long-Term Tips

  • Re-polish once a year or as per requirement (if applicable to finish type).
  • For lacquered finishes, a soft, damp cloth followed by dry buffing is enough.
  • Treat minor scratches with a wood touch-up pen or polish of a matching shade.

CARE FOR POLYESTER FABRICS

Routine Maintenance

  • Vacuum regularly using an upholstery attachment to remove dust and debris.
  • Rotate and flip cushions periodically to maintain shape and even wear.

Spills & Cleaning

  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth. Don’t rub.
  • Use mild soap and lukewarm water for spot cleaning; test in an inconspicuous area first.
  • Avoid soaking the fabric.

What to Avoid

  • Direct sunlight for prolonged periods (can cause fading).
  • Bleach or abrasive cleaners.
  • Wet cleaning methods, unless approved for the fabric.

CARE FOR PU LEATHERETTE

Routine Care

  • Wipe with a dry or lightly damp soft cloth.
  • Clean with a mild soap solution once a month to remove body oils or dirt buildup.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

What to Avoid

  • Harsh solvents, alcohol, or oil-based cleaners — these can cause peeling or cracking.
  • Sharp objects or pet claws that may puncture the surface.
  • Excessive moisture or water pooling on the surface.

GENERAL CARE & ENVIRONMENT TIPS

  • Room Climate : Maintain moderate humidity (ideally between 40–55%) to prevent wood expansion/contraction.
  • Floor Protection: Use felt pads under legs; avoid dragging furniture.
  • Ventilation : Open drawers and doors periodically to prevent mustiness.
  • Assembly Check :Tighten any screws or bolts every few months to prevent loosening over time.
